Folly Beach is a favorite source of inspiration for me. It is a barrier island and known as "The Edge of America," which inspired the name "On the Edge Studio." I enjoy working with 3 different themes- Traditional, Nature, and Mixed Media. This blog is a way to show my quilts and share some of their stories with family and friends.

Dyeing Retreat- Floss and Perle Cotton

Last week two dear friends and I headed off to Folly Beach for some fun with dyes.  Of course, there were lots of supplies needed. Here are a few I took a week earlier.
Mary's car was loaded with many more necessities.

Judy is very organized. She brings these dyed cloths so we can see the colors of the dye. It is very helpful in choosing our dyes.
Mary brought us white perle cotton and embroidery floss to dye.
We thought a variegated thread would be nice to try. We have 2 colors on the thread so far.
This is what it looked like after all the dye was added.
The next batch had these 3 colors applied.
We did several batches. This is what they looked like after washing.
